Cheri Beasley Calls For Banning Stock Trading by Members of Congress in New Ad

Ad Series Highlights Cheri's Focus on Holding Politicians and Corporate Special Interests Accountable

RALEIGH: Today, candidate for U.S. Senate Cheri Beasley continued to outline how she will stand up to both parties to do what’s right for North Carolina, and backed a policy to ban members of Congress from trading stocks in a new statewide television ad. The ad is the latest in a series that details how Cheri will hold politicians and the corporate interests in Washington accountable and put North Carolina first.

“64 members of Congress, Republicans and Democrats, have broken a law to stop insider stock trading, yet Washington refused to do anything about it,” Cheri says in the ad. “Let’s ban members of Congress from trading stocks all together.”

Cheri has communicated directly with North Carolinians about the policies she supports to make sure North Carolina’s next U.S. Senator is focused on the people of our state, including capping insulin at $35 per month to support the 1.3 million North Carolinians living with diabetes and forcing drug companies to negotiate drug prices with Medicare to lower costs.

Cheri recently launched her “Standing Up for North Carolina” tour to meet with voters across the state to share her focus on holding Washington accountable – just as she held violent offenders as a judge. She has held roundtables focused on hearing from small business owners, community conversations on issues that matter to North Carolinians like lowering costs and creating a Made-in-America economy, standing up for local farmers, tours of vocational and training facilities, among other events.

I’ll admit I’ve never worked in Washington, but to me there is a lot going on there that makes no sense.

Like get this, 64 members of Congress, Republicans and Democrats, have broken a law to stop insider stock trading, yet Washington refused to do anything about it.

I’m Cheri Beasley and I say let’s ban members of congress from trading stocks all together.

Senators should be working for you, not themselves– that’s why I approve this message.
